Books are regularly donated to the Gloucestershire Masonic Society Library and arrive from a variety of sources. But it was at a GMS meeting that the Provincial Grand Master took the opportunity of handing to this ancient volume to library custodian, Gordon Phillips.

“This fascinating collection of eighteenth century masonic sermons, was rescued by Brother Clive Atterbury of Staple Hill Lodge,” Tim Henderson-Ross told the gathering, “and I was charged with finding a suitable home. I know that delivering it to the GMS it will be properly looked after. I must admit, however,” quipped the PGM, “that having noted the capacious length of some of the sermons, that care is taken that it does not fall into the hands of our Provincial Grand Chaplain!”

Having accepted responsibility for the tome, Gordon set about making a study of its content. You can read about his fascinating discoveries in the pdf below..
