Claim The “Travelling Gavel”.
What, I hear you ask, is a “Travelling Gavel”?
Robin Tudor, the Master of St Johns Lodge (No761) donated it and put it up for grabs at their installation meeting in October last year to encourage inter lodge visiting within the Province of Gloucestershire.
It can be claimed from whichever lodge is its current holder when 4 or more brethren visiting from another temple in the province demand its release. Should there be more than one claim made it is decided by the number of masons visiting from a lodge (the more the merrier).
It is designed to encourage visiting to different temples around the province.
The next opportunity to claim the “Travelling Gavel” will be on Monday 6th February at Venn’s Acre Wotton-under-Edge as it is currently in the possession of the Gloucestershire Round Table Lodge (9017).
Remember to claim it you will need to meet somewhere other than Wotton-under-Edge, and at least 4 of your lodge brethren must be present.
Will your lodge be making a claim?
