For most members of the public Freemasonry appears to happen behind closed doors. However Freemasons are also very active in the local community.
The Gloucestershire Freemasonry CAST (Community Action Support Team) is the visible face of Freemasonry. Rob Hargroves and his band of volunteers turn out to assist several of the charities we support with their events. They are there proudly displaying the ‘Freemasonry Cares’ motto on their hi vis waistcoats for all to see. Whether it’s directing traffic, parking, providing marshals or one of the other tasks they undertake without volunteers like them the charity events couldn’t happen.
Last weekend the team of Charles Perkins, Simon Moore, Simon Clark, Colin Pulman, Brian Morris, Alan Bridgen- Page and Rob Hargoves helped organise the ‘Run for Ryder’ event. Please do read the note of thanks as the £39,000 raised from that event alone is more than most lodges give to charity in a year. Not only does the CAST team act as our representatives but that figure from one event shows the value to the charities of what they do.
If you are proud to represent Freemasonry in our community and want to support the wonderful work our partner charities do please contact provcomoff@glosmasons.org.uk and that will be passed to Rob Hargroves who can tell you more about what you can do to help.
