Visible in the background of this photo is the War Memorial. It was designed by the sculptor, Arthur Percy Frith, who was initiated into Zetland Lodge on 10th March 1915. Together with the memorial to the Royal Glos Hussars outside the cathedral, the memorial in Gloucester Park and the wall of remembrance was built by the architects to Gloucester Cathedral, Waller & Son. Col Noel Huxley Waller was an architect by profession, and succeeded his father as head of the business. He was awarded an MC in WWI and later became the Colonel of 5th Gloucester Regiment. As his name suggests, he was part of the Huxley family, so very famous as artists, writers, scientists, etc. He was initiated into Royal Gloucestershire Lodge on 4th April 1907.
