Provincial Team Visits Hands of Friendship
The Provincial team headed by Tim Henderson-Ross, David Mason and Ian Davies descended en masse on Tewkesbury for a fellowship meeting with the Hands of Friendship Lodge on October 5th 2022.
Those performing the degree ceremonies learn the wording by heart to better enable it to be delivered with expression. As this was a second degree ceremony that is particularly important as it contains some deep meaning for the way we conduct ourselves during our lifetime. James Bartlett, a Past Assistant Grand Master for Gloucestershire, took the Master’s chair and conducted the ceremony in an air of quiet confidence, sincerity and calm. As he was the Lodge’s first Master twenty years ago we can only admire the way he stepped back into the role after that period of time! Degree ceremonies are something the candidate remembers for the rest of his life so on this occasion Michael Watson was privileged to be in such capable hands and in such illustrious company.
The members of the Lodge and the catering staff made the Provincial visitors most welcome and a very convivial time was had by all. We can heartily recommend a visit to the Lodge should any Freemason be able to do so (to book in to one of their meetings contact the secretary on firstname.lastname@example.org).
Our thanks once again to Gilbert Turner of Perseverance Lodge for the photograph of the occasion which shows a relieved James Bartlett after the ceremony (front row, third from the right) standing next to the candidate (fourth from the right) who is in turn standing next to Tim Henderson-Ross, Provincial Grand Master so head of the Gloucestershire Freemasons. The two Wardens of the Lodge, Senior Warden Ben Wilson and stand-in Junior Warden Trevor Hartley, are in the row behind, flanked by the remainder of the Provincial team.
