Prince of Wales Lodge – Proudly supporting our Armed Forces

The Prince of Wales Lodge 951 are proud to support the Armed Forces and have several veterans amongst their ranks.  The current master,  John Bryant, is an RAF veteran. John is very keen to mark his year by reflecting that support. One way in which this is being achieved is by inviting veterans to give short presentations based on their military service during regular meetings. On Friday 22nd March 2024 the Lodge was delighted to hold the second of these presentations.

Yanto Evans of the Province of Oxfordshire gave a fantastic presentation where he shared his experiences as a young paratrooper serving with Patrol Company, 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment during the Falklands Campaign 1982. It was an extremely entertaining, moving and at times a funny presentation. Those who can remember that campaign were transported back to those thoughts and perceptions at the time.  Remembering the news of the day and the images that were being beamed across the world, Yanto’s presentation brought home the realities and hardship of war and the sacrifice that our brave veterans made in service of their Queen and Country during that war.

The POW 22nd March 2024 regular meeting was a very special event and certainly a night to remember!

The lodge Master and all members wish to thank Brother Yanto Evans for his courageous service.  Thank you.  We shall never forget.

We thank Ian Jackson for the article and photograph.
