Lodge of the Perfect Ashlar gives £800 to Longfield Community Hospice
The Lodge of the Perfect Ashlar may not be the largest Lodge in Gloucestershire but it punches well above its weight in terms of charitable giving as Terry Hill, Charity Steward, explained to Annie Gould when he handed over their cheque for £800 during a recent visit to the Minchinhampton-based hospice.
There was a smattering of snow on the ground and a distinct chill in the air. Annie explained that Longfield’s energy contract would be coming to an end soon. Although everyone is of course seeing dramatic increases in the cost of heating, Longfield does not receive the government subsidy the general public does. They are therefore working to raise around £20,000 to enable them to make an initial investment in solar panels to reduce the impact of the increase in energy costs.
Annie told us:
“The donation is very timely as we don’t have long to get this in place. We are very grateful to the Lodge for giving us a great start.”
