Gloucestershire Masonic Charitable Foundation – Glos2029 Festival announced

The head of Gloucestershire freemasonry – Ian Michael Davies – recently announced the forthcoming 5 year festival of fundraising for the Province of Gloucestershire to begin 1st November 2024.

What is a festival?

“To raise money for the MCF, provinces in England and Wales organise fundraising appeals known as festivals. A festival appeal usually lasts for five years. Festival appeals are a vital source of funding and generate the majority of donations made to the MCF. We are extremely grateful for the hard work and generosity of Freemasons who support their festival appeals.” Masonic Charitable Foundation

The MCF is the central charity of the United Grand Lodge of England. Gloucestershire charities and freemasons continue to benefit from the foundation’s support. Recent articles covering personal support and charity funding are well reported on this site.

There will be many questions about the upcoming festival as lodges and members are keen to make a bold start. Peter Coles, festival Chairman, recognises this and comments:

“The festival team are working diligently to bring all members up to date via a series of launch events in September and October. The launch events will be held at masonic halls across the province to ensure all members have an opportunity to attend; event dates will be communicated over the summer break.” –

In the meantime, such is the nature of a Freemason, there will be many that simply can’t wait for the launch events.  So, to start direct giving on a regular basis you can use this link to the festival relief chest. Funds donated via this link will go towards earning honourifics (recognition of individuals and lodges – Pictured) – levels of which will be communicated at the launch events along with everything you need to know about the festival to making a running start in November.
