Gloucestershire Freemasons Entertained in Cardiff

On Tuesday 2nd April a group of six Gloucestershire freemasons set out to visit the Proscenium Lodge in Cardiff. Four brothers from Gloucestershire Round Table Lodge 9017 and 2 from Staple Hill lodge 6043 report on a unique evening of freemasonry. To quote the Proscenium Website:

The Proscenium Lodge Motto is “Omnes Partes Agimus” which has two possible meanings: “We play all parts” or “We all play our part”. This reflects the team spirit and enthusiasm that goes into a theatre production or into our lodge.

The Proscenium Lodge is an entertainers lodge and on that evening they were initiating 2 new brethren. The meeting was held in the Cardiff centre’s main lodge room a truly large venue that dwarfs most lodge rooms in Gloucestershire.  Visiting brethren and the two new brothers were treated to a presentation of the 1st degree tracing board – One of the most significant and richly explanatory pieces of ritual in freemasonry, delivered entirely from memory.

A festive board followed the likes of which those new visitors had not witnessed elsewhere. A round of both clever and cringeworthy jokes followed along with singing and harmony.

We thank Steve Tainton for sharing his account of the evening and photographs
