If you have ever wondered what has been given by Freemasons to Gloucestershire recently the answer is here. The Annual General Meeting of the GMCA (Gloucestershire Masonic Charity Action) was held at the Masonic Hall in Wotton under Edge with many of the Lodge Almoners listening intently. Please do take a look at the presentation below which shows all the charities in Gloucestershire who have had grants from the MCF (Masonic Charitable Foundation), GMCA and GCF (Gloucestershire Charitable Foundation).
All those attending the AGM were asked to cast their vote for which charities should be given a further discretionary award:
- Gloucestershire Nightstop £2000
- Thornbury & District Stroke Support Group £1750
- Forest Pulse £1500
- The Cyber Trust £1250
- North Cotswold Community Awareness £1250
- Brendan’s Bridge £500
Please also bear in mind that each of the 84 Lodges in Gloucestershire also give to their local charities in their own right. In fact in 2021 and 2022 the MCF, GMCA and GCF gave an average of £115,000 but the Lodges were not far behind at £103,000. That means Freemasonry gave to Gloucestershire an average of £218,000 in 2021 and in 2022, of which they can surely feel justly proud.
What about the bear in the photograph? Freemasons have given 15000 teddy bears to sick children in the county’s hospitals so bear number 15000 celebrated with a beer.
