Following a disappointing 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Association was able to enjoy a near normal return to a season of bowling. Under the captaincy of John Owen, the GMBA won seven matches against Gloucestershire clubs, with just two losses. Throughout the season, the GMBA once again greatly appreciated the excellent contribution received form our lady affiliate members. Two teams were entered into the Masonic Annual Charity Event (MACE) tournament, which was the 10th anniversary event that had been previously postponed. Although our bowlers were unable to repeat the triumphant success of 2018, they acquitted themselves well and £6000.00 was raised for charity which was split between Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Support. Since the start of MACE over £60,000.00 has been donated to various charities. For their many years of sterling service and exemplary support to the GMBA, Life Membership of the Association, together with Life Member Medals were awarded to Max Hart, our immediate Past President, Norman Gooch and Colin Parsons.
The head of Gloucestershire Freemasons as Patron, attended the triples competition day and subsequent AGM and was pleased to present the season’s competition winners with their trophies. Our President, Malcolm Hart, then present him with a cheque for £250.00 for his Discretionary Fund, which was greatly received.
