Lodge of Sympathy IPM, Gary Shellard, has previously hosted successful Saturday morning breakfasts at Venn’s Acre, Wotton. This time, it was in conjunction with Glos Masonic Society, who presented an added opportunity to view the vast range of masonic books in the library held there.
No fewer than 65 ‘booked’ in; amongst them St John’s Lodge’s very own Robin Tudor, unaccountably dressed as Lord Nelson, but undoubtedly adding more fun to the occasion! There were many non-masons midst the diners, some taking advantage of a tour of the building on their first-ever visit. With catering at cost by Sarah, and her waitress team who gave up their time for free, this magnificent support enabled £660 to be raised . . . destined for Hillesley Primary School to help finance new laptops for the children.
In the library upstairs, Gordon Phillips, the GMS librarian, lent a helping hand to researchers and casual browsers alike. For your diary . . . Gordon, a musician of some “note”, will be presenting a lecture about Masonic Music at Stroud on 18th January: details here:
